The Equivalency Exemption
The EAAB has made it possible for candidates with previous tertiary education to apply for an equivalency exemption against the NQF Level 4 and/or NQF Level 5 Real Estate Qualifications. Certain degrees, such as those involving law, accountancy, management, as well as many others, will entitle a candidate either to exemption at either the NQF 4 or 5 Qualifications, or to both, or they may exempt a candidate from specific Unit Standards of the Qualifications.
Qualifying & Applying
It can be difficult to decipher if you qualify for an exemption against the EAAB’s exemption matrix. The easiest way to know if you qualify is to contact us and let us assist you. BrainTrust Business Training is committed to providing an Agent with all the options that exist for them, so we have offered our services to anyone who thinks that they may qualify for an exemption, to confirm if this is the case, and further to process the application on your behalf.
All you need to do is furnish us with a copy of your ID, your CV, a copy of your degree and/or diploma certificate(s), as well as your transcripts or statements of results. On of our independent assessors will then cross reference your degree with the EAAB’s exemption matrix, confirming whether or not you do in fact qualify for an exemption. If you do, we can then submit your documents and the prescribed fee to the EAAB, applying for the exemption on your behalf. From here, it will take between 6 to 8 weeks for you to receive your letter of exemption directly from the EAAB. BrainTrust is currently charging R2,750.00 for the exemption, which includes our administration fee, as well as the prescribed fee payable to the EAAB.
What do I Still Have to do?
If you qualify for an exemption at both NQF Level 4 and Level 5, this does not necessarily mean that you are off the hook and do not need to comply with any of the other educational components. On the contrary, you will still be required to complete a mandatory 12 month Internship at any registered Estate Agency of your choosing (together with the EAAB’s Intern Logbook), as well as write and pass both the Professional Designation Examinations at Level 4 and 5, respectively.
You will then be required to comply with the CPD regulations, and obtain your 20 CPD Points annually. If you would like to apply for an exemption, or would like to know if you qualify, you can either upload your documents by clicking on the button below, or you can send the required documents to info@btbt.co.za.
